Fairbanks, Alaska
Terminal facilities include ticketing, passenger waiting, public restrooms, baggage claim, baggage cart make up, administrative offices, and space for local model railroad exhibition and meeting space. New facilities include the new 14,000 square foot passenger terminal, a parking plaza for 40 motor coaches which pick up and deliver passengers directly to railroad passenger cars, new track, platforms, roads, drives, bicycle path, and parking for patrons.
The facility's traditional character, similar to the original passenger terminal built in Fairbanks in the 1920's, and demolished in the 1950's, incorporates traditional proportions, hip roofs, clock tower, wood exterior finishes, exposed wood trusses, lighting, casework, and furnishings.
