Fairbanks, Alaska
This world class recreation area is used for training and competition by both U.S. and International ski teams. To be fully functional, the ski trails required a new Ski Building.
This 11,175 sq.ft. Ski Building consists of two pods; a service pod clad in galvanized metal (which includes the building entry, elevator and stair, waxing areas, changing and toilet rooms) and an assembly pod clad in cedar wood siding. These pods are connected by a viewing bridge which spans the incoming competition trail. The wood structure is exposed both outside at the bridge, and inside in the assembly pod creating the a rustic character commonly associated with ski venues. The material and color selections provide a bright and colorful backdrop to stadium activities.
